Two Research Assistantship (RA) openings for Ph.D. candidates are available at Professor Yifei Mo’s group, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). Prof. Mo’s group develops and employs materials design from ab initio computation and large-scale atomistic modeling with emphasize on the advanced materials for energy storage and conversion. Our group collaborates closely with leading experimental research groups at UMD. We highly value innovation and passion to bridge fundamental scientific inquiry and high-impact applications. More information about Prof. Mo can be found at http://mse.umd.edu/faculty/mo
The candidate will be seeking a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering. The research project will be developing new materials for the next-generation energy storage and conversion technology using computational techniques. The ideal candidate will have basic programming skills and knowledge of materials science or solid-state physics, but highly motivated applicants with varied background will be considered.
Interested candidates may contact Prof. Yifei Mo directly at 1point3acres.com. Formal applications should be submitted online to the graduate school of UMD. Please submit the application for the Ph.D. program in Materials Science and Engineering. The application deadline is December 1st, 2014. More information about the application process can be found at http://mse.umd.edu/graduate/admissions
