Columbia 老师回复的套磁信，不理解意思，求指教

事情是这样的，发了CV和一系列background过去之后，老师很快（1个小时内）回复说 他打算和另外一个XX老师一起联合培养学生。然后我不知道该怎么说，就问了很傻的问题，是不是提交申请的时候要把两个老师的名字都写上？ 老师回复说你申CS,就写我，申统计就写XX. 我回复好的，就申CS吧。本以为事情结束了，过了几天，老师发邮件说，You may also consider applying to the Statistics PhD program, if you think it would be suitable for you. This is because (1) XX is in the statistics department, and (2) the statistics PhD program has different requirements, which you might find more suitable.

然后我就不懂了。。看publication, 似乎XX老师的是更match，但是老师这样回复是不想要， 想把我踢给别人的节奏么？？
还有就是以前回邮件都是当天内的，隔几天忽然冒出来这样的邮件，感觉好茫然诶~~

大家怎么看？
