Hi xx,

Thanks so much for the email. It is my pleasure to be admitted by NU Seattle graduate school to pursue my master's program in Information Systems. It is a thrilling opportunity and I would like to seek your help and get to know more about this program from academic and future professional perspectives.

Firstly, I read from the campus website that the classes we have are offered by a hybrid manner (i.e. both online courses and in class courses taught by professors and local industry icons). Would you let me know what's the percentage of online classes we take out of the 32 required credits? My understanding is most of the classes are offered via Boston campus but online seminars will be hosted in one of the classrooms in Seattle, is that correct?

The MSIS in Seattle is SEVIS approved, eligible for F-1 students and the program is compliant with all I-20 status requirements. To be I-20 compliant, there are specific requirements around students on an F-1 visa studying at the campus. For the MSIS courses you will be taking some classes on-ground (meeting 1-2 times per week), and some classes online (which often have the option on-ground meeting times).
The Seattle Campus always has available each semester a few options for both on-ground and online. As an F-1 visa holder you would be required to take 2 classes per semester (with the exception of Summer term), and at least one class has to be on-ground, while the other could be online or on-ground.

Those courses in Seattle are taught by local faculty. Faculty in Seattle are either full-time faculty, and some are working in industry. If you take an online class, the professor may be here in Seattle, or may be a Boston-based faculty. Being at the Seattle Campus means that you have access to both industry-professionals and our full-time research faculty. Therefore you will take a minimum of 50% of your courses on-ground here in Seattle, if not more. It will depend on what courses you decide to register for.

Second, what is the size of class do we have in Seattle? And do we have any current students from China? If convenient, would you mind put me in connect with one of the current students?

The IS program is about 8 years old in Boston. However, this Fall Semester will be the first cohort of students in Seattle. We are projecting about 10 students in the first cohort. This will mean small classes and personalized attention. I recommend you connect with one of our current Engineering Management students to talk about their experience here in Seattle. See the webpage for contacts: http://www.northeastern.edu/seattle/coe

Third, the reason I applied for Seattle campus is because I love the city!!! More importantly, it is a city with booming IT industry. (Amazon, Microsoft...) For the Seattle campus students, does the school offer any local based co-op program in Seattle? If so, it must be increasing the chance for the students to get a job in Seattle. In a related topic, do you have any career statistics to share in the last couple of years of IS program graduates from Seattle campus?
Yes, we will certainly have local opportunities for our MSIS students. Because the MSIS program will be new in Seattle, we do not have any statistics yet about co-op placement. However, you're right, our computer science industry in Seattle is amongst the largest in the world and local tech companies are hiring 5,000+ workers in the next 2 years so there are many jobs here.

Lastly for this email, as a international students, do we have any merit-based scholarship? (In fact I haven't receive official email notification for my admission, but the admission letter was received in the online application system.) I am not sure whether there will be any deduction applied to the tuition.

Unfortunatly we do not offer any scholarship for the MSIS program, at either campus. CPT Co-op/internship are a way that many of our students earn money to defray education costs.
The MS IS program is a professional program and practical in nature, much like an MBA, where the majority of students in such programs are self-paying in the hopes for a healthy return on investment in the future.
