This project is to use particle-based computational simulations to study the interaction between bacterial outer membranes and signaling molecules. Strong collaboration with experimental groups is expected. Outstanding candidates having interests and backgrounds in physical chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, physics, and materials science are encouraged to apply.

Students with following qualifications are preferred: (1) M.S. degree (or equivalent eg: first class honor) in chemistry, physics,or a related discipline (completed or near completion) as well as outstanding B.S. graduates (with a 3.5/4.0 or higher GPA); (2) strong backgrounds in biomolecular modeling and C/C++ coding; (3) familiarity with UNIX/Linux operating systems; (4) familiarity with full-atom molecular dynamics and experience with at least one of the software packages for atomisticbiological simulations, such as LAMMPS, AMBER, NAMD, and GROMACS.

Interested students should send their curriculum vitae with a brief description of their research interests to Dr. Xin Yong at 1point3acres.com for consideration. More information about Dr. Xin Yong is available on his group webiste http://bingweb.binghamton.edu/~xyong/
