The Molecular‐level Energy and Mass Transport Laboratory (MEMT Lab) in the department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame has one research assistant opening available starting in Spring 2016 (the spring admission deadline is Nov. 1st). The student will mainly work on molecular simulations of nanoscale thermal transport in soft materials such as liquids and polymers. The student will work under the supervision of Prof. Tengfei Luo.

The focus in Luo’s group is to study thermal energy transport in soft materials and their interfaces with other materials. First‐principles calculations, molecular dynamics simulations and Monte Carlo simulations are routinely used in the MEMT group. It is highly desirable that the candidate has background in chemistry, chemical engineering or polymer science and engineering. More information on Luo’s research can be found on ame.nd.edu, and memt.nd.edu.

A Previous research experience with atomistic simulations will be a plus. Competitive stipend will be provided. The student will apply online:
ame.nd.edu
However, it is highly recommended that the applicant also email a copy of CV along with a transcript to 1point3acres.com (Dr. Tengfei Luo).

The University of Notre Dame ranks No. 18 in the US News ranking in 2015.
