The Computational Mechanics group at Georgia Southern University, led by Dr. Ren, is looking for a new Research Assistant, who are capable of and interested in performing high-quality research on engineering design. The research, supported by U.S. National Science Foundation and Startup Funding, entails building a solid mathematical foundation, devising efficient numerical algorithms, and developing practical computational tools for stochastic topology optimization. Exposures to stochastic and probabilistic methods are musts; a substantial background in solid mechanics and structural optimization (topology optimization preferred) is highly desirable.

If you are interested in this position or in pursuing a Master degree at Georgia Southern, please contact and send a package of application material including resume, transcripts, and reference letters (or a list of references) to: Dr. Ren at 1point3acres.com with the subject "Opening for a new Master student in the Computational Mechanics group, Georgia Southern University". Please note that we are interested in students who already have B.S. or MSc degrees in engineering, statistics, or mathematics. The desired start date is Spring 2017 or sooner.
