跟美国导师要推荐信，这样的回复还要这封吗？

暑假在美国UC Davis做的暑期科研，最后跟导师谈了一次话，他也说了我的一些不足，但整体来讲我们关系也不算太差。由于跟导师接触比较多，他对我的优势和劣势都了解得比较清楚，这封推荐信不知道该不该要？
邮件原文：
Hi XXX,
I’d be glad to write you a letter of reference, of course. However, I should let you know that my letter would seek to describe all aspects of your time in my lab, including your many positive contributions and abilities, but also some descriptions of areas where continued improvement is needed, as we’ve discussed. If you feel like my letter would still strengthen your application on balance, please just let me know the deadlines and who I should direct the letter(s) to.
