Dear Mr. Zha,

I am pleased to inform you that we have recommended to the Graduate Division to admit you into the M.S. program in Electrical Engineering at UCLA, starting in the Fall Quarter 2014. If you indicated Ph.D. as the degree objective on your Fall 2014 application, you may apply for admission to the Ph.D. program upon fulfilling the academic and procedural requirements for the M.S. degree.

Once the Graduate Division has reviewed and approved our recommendation, you will receive an email containing links to view your official offer of admission. The Graduate Division’s email will also include a link to the forms required to accept or decline our offer. Financial aid awards will be offered within the next month.

Your application indicated your interest in the area of Circuits & Embedded Systems. Circuits & Embedded Systems faculty reviewed your application and recommended you for admission. Once you accept the offer of admission and enroll with UCLA, you will be expected to focus your studies in the area to which you have been admitted.

When you enroll at UCLA, we have asked

to serve as your initial faculty advisor. I encourage you to contact your advisor by email indicating your interest in this offer, and to gain answers to specific questions. After you join our department, you can change advisor, if you wish, to another faculty member within your area who consents to supervise your studies and/or research, and who will thus become your permanent faculty advisor.

Please note that the department does not grant a second M.S. degree to students who already possess one prior to joining our program. If you have already completed a M.S. degree, please notify the EE Office of Student Affairs immediately. An official transcript showing the conferral of your bachelor’s degree must be received by the EE Office of Student Affairs by November 1st (if one has not already been provided). Please note that degree certificates are also required for many countries.

On behalf of the department I welcome you to our community and wish you every success in your studies. If our EE Graduate Student Affairs Office can be of help to you, please contact Ms. Mandy Smith at 1point3acres.com (email preferred) or by phone at (310) 825-9383.

Congratulations,

Paulo Tabuada
Vice Chair of Graduate Affairs
