One PhD position (AI area) with full finanical support (starting from 2024 fall) is available in Prof. Yuan's lab in Rutgers University. The candidate is expected to work on deep learning research projects (e.g., LLM and embodied AI).
Required background
--- BS/MS degree in CS/CE/EE/Applied Math/Statistics/IEOR/Physics/Mech Eng.
--- Solid background on AI/ML/Robotics with related research/industrial experience
--- Strong programming skills (e.g., C++/Python)
Preferred background (at least one)
--- Research experience on deep learning, LLM or embodied AI
--- Industrial experience in AI/ML
--- Strong mathematical background, e.g., signal procesing, optimization, etc.

About Prof. Bo Yuan
Dr. Yuan is currently the assistant professor in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Rutgers University. He received BS and MS degrees from Nanjing University, China. He received his PhD degree from University of Minnesota. He is the recipient of NSF CAREER Award, IEEE TCSDM Early-Career Award, Global Research Competition Finalist Award in Broadcom.
About Prof. Bo Yuan's Lab
Dr. Yuan's lab works on multiple technical stacks towards building next-generation intelligent systems, including efficient AI/ML algorithm, energy-efficient hardware design, intelligent robotic computing, secure/reliable/robust AI, AI-powered domain applications. The research works have been published in NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ECCV, AAAI, IJCAI, IROS, ISCA, MICRO, ASPLOS and HPCA. The Ph.D students in the lab have internship experience in Google, Meta, Amazon, Nvidia, IBM, Samsung, Snap and Tecent USA. The first job placements include Meta, Amazon, Tenure-track Assitant Professor in R1 universities and start-up company.
