Three fully-funded (TA/RA) Ph.D. positions are available in the Wireless Intelligent Networking
and Security (WINGS) Lab at The State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo).
Candidates are expected to start in the Spring or Fall 2019 semesters. The candidates will conduct
theoretical and experimental research in software-defined networking and wireless network
security. Self-motivated students at the B.S. or M.Sc. level with background in Electrical
Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to candidates with strong background in wireless communication and
networking, optimization and machine learning, and software-defined radio. To apply, please send

Dr. Zhangyu Guan is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering at
SUNY Buffalo. Dr. Guan received his Ph.D. degree in Communication
and Information Systems from Shandong University in China in 2010, and then worked there as a
Lecturer until 2015. He was a visiting Ph.D. student with the Department of Electrical Engineering
at SUNY Buffalo from 2009 to 2010. He was then a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the
Department of Electrical Engineering at SUNY Buffalo, and after that was a Postdoctoral Research
Associate with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University
in Boston, MA. Dr. Guan will direct the Wireless Intelligent Networking and Security (WINGS)
Lab at SUNY Buffalo, with research areas in software-defined networking and wireless network
security.
