求教套磁回复如何跟进

两天前发的套磁信，链接了自己的个人网站（CV, research，三维等信息），问教授明年是否招博士。
今早收到回复：
I am always interested in taking on new PhD students who have an interest and appropriate background. You seem to have a good background in XXX (我的研究背景). I encourage you to apply to our department with me as your advisor. In your statement of purpose, explain why you are interested in XXX (教授research interest) and how your background prepares you for research in my group. It would be good for you to read some of my papers.
（然后给我推了一个他们学校的一个interdisciplinary program）

没有问我要更多材料，是模板回复吗？
信里提到了sop和他的论文，我是需要看一看他的论文，然后进行学术套？？
