Ph.D. Research Assistant Position
Dr. Chen Chen's research group at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is looking for fully funded Ph.D. students starting fall 2024 or future semesters. The admitted candidates will enroll the Ph.D. program in Fire and Emergency Management at OSU, and work on interdisciplinary research of human system, building environment, and natural system to enhance community resilience and sustainability for both individual and organization levels. Qualified candidates are expected to have one or more skills as follows:
·Strong interest, motivation, and experience related one or more of the following projects:
o nsf.gov (National Science Foundation)
o nsf.gov (National Science Foundation)
·Hold a Master's degree (preferred) or Bachelor's degree (with research experience) in related fields, such as social science, emergency management, risk communication, behavior analysis, fire protection and safety, simulation and modeling, psychometrics, human factors, econometrics, or machine learning and deep learning, etc.

Dr. Chen Chen is an assistant professor in Fire and Emergency Management at the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology. He conducts research in the areas of infrastructure resilience, disasters, transportation safety, and mobility. Specifically, Chen is interested in human decisions and behavior in complex systems for emergency preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery. He leverages interdisciplinary studies with people from psychology, public policy, computer science, and engineering to advance our understandings of how to make our society safe, sustainable, and resilient. His studies were published in Risk Analysis, Natural Hazards, Earthquake Spectra, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, Accident Analysis & Prevention, Transportation Research Record, Transportation Research Part A, Part D, and Journal of Transport Geography, etc… He teaches courses including “Introduction to Emergency Management"“Hazard, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessment” “Agent-based Modeling and Simulation for Interdisciplinary Research” and “Mitigation”.
