HKUST(GZ) Data Science and Analytics PhD Recruitment

Dr. Lei Li is an Assistant Professor at the Data Science and Analytics (DSA) Thrust, Information Hub of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST GZ), and an Affliate Assistant Professor at the Department of Compuster Science and Engineering (CSE) of the HKUST CWB. Before that, he was an Associate Lecturer and PhD supervisor at Data Science Group, University of Queensland, Australia, and a data scientist at Redback Technologies. He received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in computer science from Harbin Institute of Technology, China, in 2012 and 2014, and PhD in Computer Science from Data and Knowledge Engineering (DKE) Group in the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, the University of Queensland under Prof. Xiaofang Zhou's supervision in 2018. He has published actively more than 20 papers as the main author in reputed journals and top international conferences including PVLDB, ICDE, TKDE, and VLDBJ. He works as Senior PC of DASFAA, PC member of ICDE, VLDB, KDD, CIKM, ICDM and WSDM, Local Arrangement Chair of VLDB, and invited reviewer of more than 10 journals including TKDE, VLDB Journals, WWWJ, KAIS, GeoInformatica, TITS and etc. He has received the ADC best paper related awards from 2019 to 2022 four times in a row.

• Scholarship: RMB 15k per month

Requirements:

• Only database or DB4AI background would be considered. Better from renowned DB research group. We will work on AI, but not the "common" ways.
• Demonstrated strong research ability like publications in CORE-A* / CCF-A DB conferences
