Position details[align="left"]Three (3) fully funded 4-year Research Assistant (RA) positions are now available for Computer Engineering PhD/MS students interested in any of the following areas [/align]

1. [align="left"]Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (e.g., applications in Natural Language Processing and Medical Informatics),[/align]
2. [align="left"]Biomedical Data Analysis (e.g., Medical Image/Signal Processing and Bioinformatics) [/align]
3. [align="left"]Robotics (e.g., Sensing and Planning) and Embedded Computing, [/align]
4. [align="left"]Computer Vision/Image Processing. [/align]
   

[align="left"]in Dr. Forrest Sheng Bao’s lab in the Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Akron (Akron, Ohio). Funding for MS students is up to 2 years. Students with interests outside of the areas mentioned above are also encouraged to apply. [/align]
[align="left"]Students fulfilling positions above will work with collaborators from the industry, including Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Bayer. All positions are expected to start in the Summer 2015 or Fall 2015 semester. The RA position comes with full tuition waiver and competitive stipend. Performance-based bonus is available. [align="left"]Applications for postdocs and visiting scholars/students are also welcome.[/align]Requirements [align="left"]Applicants must have a bachelor/master's degree (or near completion) in Computer Science/ Engineering, Electrical/Electronics engineering or Biomedical Engineering. Solid background in image/signal processing, AI (knowledge engineering, machine learning, computer vision, and robotics), or embedded system is highly preferred. Strong programming skills are required. Proficiency in Linux, Python and LaTeX is a great plus. Requirements at department, college and university level must be met. No requirements for GRE verbal. [/align]About Dr. Bao[align="left"]Having published 20+ papers (450+ citations and h-index: 9), including several that have been presented at top conferences such as AAAI, Dr. Bao has become widely recognized for his research. In 2013, he was appointed an editorial member of IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine and a Program Committee member of International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI'13). His work has been reported by MIT Technology Review and Epilepsy Foundation of America.
