Homer Electric Association, Inc., is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Electrical System Design Engineer (System Engineer) in the Kenai, Alaska office. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, and five years electrical utility or similar engineering experience is preferred. The candidate should be a registered professional engineer in the State of Alaska, or have the ability to obtain registration within one year. The System Engineer is responsible for general design and maintenance of the Cooperative’s overhead and underground distribution systems. This includes compliance with RUS and other utility standards, preventative maintenance programs, and distribution system coordination of relaying and other protective equipment.

Seeking an entry level Electrical Engineer for full time employment. Anticipated work will include power generation, communications, and commercial electrical engineering. The successful individual should have the ability to work as part of a multi-discipline engineering team. Conduct field visits to collect identify electrical requirements. Create Electrical Engineering design drawings/specs/schematics/specifications. Select parts/design components. Develop pricing estimates. Review design drawings for functionality. Follow QA/QC standards.
Requirements include:
Must have a BSEE degree from an accredited university
Preferred FE complete
Travel throughout Alaska is anticipated
Must have excellent verbal/writing skills
