请问这个回复什么意思？可以套别的教授吗？

发信问教授能不能当我的supervisor，教授回信如下：hi xx, thanks for your note of introduction. i have taken a close look at your application. unfortunately, your background is not an ideal match for the funding that i have, so i do not have a research assistantship that would be appropriate for you. your application is strong, though, and i've recommended to the department that they consider you for a teaching assistantship.

教授好像没有明确说能不能当我的supervisor以及能不能指导我研究，只是说了不能给我RA。还是说那个意思就是婉拒我表示不能指导我，然后我可以去找新的教授问了？因为担心教授的意思会不会只是不能给我RA但愿意让我跟他干活，所以在犹豫该不该联系别的教授。。（但其实对别的教授都兴趣不大了。。）求指导！
