收到offer以后应该怎么回信？

收到一个informal but definite acceptance的email，说The formal acceptance letter from the University is being sent under separate cover，这封email小秘同时也给未来的导师抄送了。需要先给小秘或者导师发个邮件说我已经收到，正在考虑中之类的邮件吗？还是说只需要等到最后做决定的时候再回复? 另外，这个separate cover是指另一封email还是邮寄过来？谢谢！
