RA/TA positions at Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Arlington are available from Fall 2018. These research assistantships are to work with Dr. Jia Rao towards Ph.D. degrees with conducting research in the field of Cloud Computing, Big Data, and High-Performance Parallel Computing.

Desirable applicants should have B.S. or above degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related fields, and strong motivation toward high quality research. The related research work in Dr. Rao’s lab requires good programming skills and computer systems knowledge. Dr. Rao’s research interests lie in the broad area of Operating Systems, Distributed Systems, and Parallel Computing with a special focus on improving the resource management and scheduling in Cloud and Big Data systems. Dr. Rao’s work has been published in top-tier computer systems conferences, such as EuroSys, USENIX ATC, SoCC, HPCA, PPoPP, PACT, HPDC, Middleware, INFOCOM, APSys, VEE, SC, ICAC, ICDCS, IPDPS, and won the best paper awards in APSys, ICAC, and the best paper nominations in HPCA and HPDC.
