Dear XXX,
Please note that the appropriate faculty admissions committee has completed its review of your application and is very impressed with your academic background. Unfortunately we cannot make a funding award offer to you at this time because the process was particularly competitive this year, and we do not have the financial resources to make funding offers to all qualified candidates. Therefore, your status at present is WAITLISTED. There is no need to login to your electronic application to confirm this as your official status is UNDER COMMITTEE REVIEW. However, note that your application will eventually be DENIED if we are not able to offer you a funding award in the near future.
To explain further, note that your program of interest will continue to poll its faculty in coming weeks regarding their needs for assistantship candidates, and if a funding award offer can be made to you, you will be notified, likely sometime between the middle-to-late April timeframe. Note that the likelihood of your receiving a funding offer is low at this point. I am sorry if this was not the outcome you were hoping for.
Meanwhile, if you have a source for funding support as a function of personal, family, or other funds (self-financing or self-funding), and can provide to us evidence of same (according to the below instructions), the admissions committee will direct me to change your status to ADMITTED. Therefore, if you have such a source for self-financing or self-funding, please arrange to do the following preferably before mid-May timeframe:
