Ph.D Research Assistantship is available at Professor Xingyong Song’s research group (Group website: songxy.tamu.edu). Candidates are expected to have strong background in automatic controls: advanced controls theory, controls & automation applications, nonlinear optimization, and etc. The applicant should apply to Fall 2019 intake at Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station. The selected candidates will work with Dr. Xingyong Song in the research areas on control and automation on applications to energy systems, such as autonomous down-hole drilling robot for oil and gas industry, autonomous and connected vehicles, etc. Dr. Song is a tenure-track assistant professor at TAMU. More information about his research can be found at songxy.tamu.edu. He got his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and then gained over 4 years full-time industrial experience in two Fortune 500 companies ( 2 years at General Motors Research Center in Michigan and 2 years at Halliburton Energy (Oil&Gas) Service Company in Houston, Texas. ) His research works have strong emphasis on addressing the real world challenges and applications.
