Dear XXX: I see you were denied. I am afraid that by policy we are not allowed to give specific reasons for rejection. Doing so could potentially violate the confidence of the reviewers and the referees. All I can say is that we are currently in a situation where the size of our graduate program has grown a little larger than we can handle and so we have had to be extremely selective this year.
