Dr. Ying Lin with the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Houston is seeking PhD students starting in Fall 2019/Spring 2020. The prospective students will receive doctoral level financial support (20000/year) and tuition waiver.
The research interests of Dr. Lin’s group lie at the interaction of data analytics, quality engineering and healthcare. Her group focuses on the following research directions:
Statistical learning and data mining: spatial-temporal data analysis, network analysis, multi-source data analysis.
Quality engineering: dynamic system modeling and prognosis, selective sensing.
Healthcare: biomedical informatics, public health, medical decision making.
The prospective students are expected to have strong backgrounds in mathematics, analytics and programming. Students with bachelor’s or master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, computer science, industrial engineering, or other engineering majors would be good fits.
Bio:
Dr. Ying Lin joined the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Houston as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2017. She received her PhD degree in the Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Washington and Bachelor degree in Statistics from the University of Science and Technology in China.
