Bio: Dr. Chen will join the Department Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCR as an assistant professor in 2019. He earned his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2014, Zhejiang University in 2010, and Southeast University in 2007 (with honors), respectively. Dr. Chen’s group focuses on advanced materials and devices for quantum information and energy related applications. Major equipment in his lab includes the floating zone furnace for single crystal growth, CVD systems for 2D materials synthesis, physical properties measurement system, and optical facilities. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers, including 12 first-authored or co-first authored papers published in Science, Nature Communications, PNAS, Physical Review Letters, Advanced Energy Materials, and so on.
