The number of applications our department received this year exceeded 2,400. We are grateful our programs and facilities are attractive to so many individuals seeking advanced degrees. However, as a consequence, admission is quite competitive, and many otherwise qualified candidates must be turned away. Therefore, denial of admission need not be construed as a reflection on an applicant's academic credentials, but rather is indicative of the highly competitive quality of our applicant pool.
With so many applicants, please understand and respect that the department cannot provide details about a particular decision, nor does it reconsider admission denials or re-evaluate an applicant for another of its degree programs.
