关于research-oriented master申请的一点疑惑

楼主准备硕博混申，硕士主要是为了phd的跳板。最近在着手写文书，也看了很多master项目介绍和录取情况，越来越疑惑。
1.很多master项目，比如CMU MSCS, MSCV都是偏professional，比如 MSCS就写着

那么文书的career goal部分，我是应该写真实想法，读master积累->Phd-> research scientist in industry。还是应该follow这两个项目的关注点，说自己想进一步积累，然后直接到industry工作 解决实际问题。 如果这样，是不是我在介绍自己research经历，publication以后，都要绕回professional的方向，和problem-solving skills？
看了地里19fall的录取情况，感觉这几个项目的录取人基本都有publication... 这个和它们声称的professional-oriented是不是有点矛盾呢？
2.LTI下面的MLT和MSIIS倒都是research-oriented，但我个人背景偏CV+DL，没有NLP的research经历，不知道会不会直接被刷...？（兴趣上其实还OK，知识上 补一下也能很快赶上，毕竟很多知识是共通的）
3.除了UCSD，UT austin,还有哪些项目会对phd申请比较友好嘛？

The M.S. program is distinct from the Ph.D. program in computer science, and master's students will not usually continue into the Ph.D. program and will not receive preferential treatment if they apply.

MSCV is a professional preparation program that features a specific line-up of courses and hands-on projects. The program does not focus on research, so there will not be an opportunity to work on a Masters Thesis.
