Multiple Ph.D. positions are open for Spring 2020 at the Center on Stochastic Modeling, Optimization, & Statistics (COSMOS) at the University of Texas at Arlington. The research directions will be focused on Data Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning research with applications to smart healthcare, smart machines, precision medicine, and artificial intelligence systems. Graduate students with a strong quantitative background and computational skills are encouraged to apply. Desirable applicants may have a background in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related fields. A Master degree in related fields is preferred; outstanding undergraduate students will also be considered. The COSMOS Center is conducting world-leading research in Advanced Data Analytics, Machine Learning Research, Complex System Optimization & Modeling, Healthcare and Biomedical Informatics, and AI-driven Technologies. The lab has very strong connections to AI industry. The renowned research collaborators include Apple, IBM, American Airlines, Facebook/Oculus, Samsung/Harman AI Group, and NVIDIA. COSMOS Ph.D. graduates are highly popular in the job market. Dr. Wang's recent graduate students obtained data scientist jobs at CSX Transportation, American Airlines, Guideline Inc, AT&T, UT Southwestern Medical Center, etc. Our Ph.D. graduates also have immense opportunities to pursue academic careers, two recent Ph.D. students obtained research and teaching positions at top schools, including Harvard University (School of Medicine) and the University of Southern California.
