The Biofluid & Biosolid Modeling (BFBSM) Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Florida has two openings for PhD students in Spring or Fall 2020. Candidate who has a background in computational fluid dynamics, computational biomechanics, and cardiovascular biomechanics are highly encouraged to apply. The candidate with programming and coding experience is a plus. Stipend is available to cover both tuition and living expenses. All applicants must satisfy USF graduate program admission requirements. The BFBSM Lab is working at the intersection of fluid mechanics and biomechanics, and focusing on the development of computational models that address the complex fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems related to biomedical applications, such as biomechanics underlying cardiovascular diseases, cell dynamics in microfluidics and circulation, and the interactions between blood-contacting medical devices and host tissues.
