老师推荐信里写了这么一句话要让他改掉吗

Though he does not have a shining GPA compared to other students I have supervised, such as XXX, currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree at University of Washington, Saint Louis. However, XXX actually has better research record and is more self-motivative mature as an independent researcher.感觉虽然再Though里面，但是是不是recommendation里面一般不提负面的东西。
