此贴定位，是希望给申PhD的套磁新手们一个清晰的框架，即你在套磁中大致会遇上什么样的回复，你又应该如何恰如其分的去应对。我希望通过这个帖子，可以避免地里再经常出现的“这算不算积极/模板回复”“拒信我怎么回”“不回复我怎么催”之类的常见问题。本帖不讨论学术套磁，个人从未尝试，并且不推荐。
当然，套磁情况千变万化，标题中的“50多种”即为此意，即每封套磁回复都可能有它的特殊情况在。常见情况其实并不足以覆盖，所以此贴仅为抛砖引玉，希望各位能做出有效的补充。
以下我分出了6大类常见套磁回复及应对，顺序由消极到积极。以下所有例子均为我收到的真实回复的摘选。
1.不回复。
没有例子，只有一滴血泪。。
应对：大致以2周为一个阈值，超过2周可以选择：再发一封很礼貌的催信reminder；联系这项目里下一位老师
2.直接拒绝。可能分为没funding不计划招生和not interested 两种情况（一般不会说你不行，都是不感兴趣）

However, I will not be taking on any PhD students in the foreseeable future
You would need outside funding/fellowship,
Unfortunately I do not think you are a good fit for my lab right now.
having read carefully through your materials I do not think you are a good fit for my lab at this time.
At this point, I don't know whether I have any funding for a new Ph.D. student in 2020. If I do, I will keep you in mind.
应对：建议还是礼貌性的回复thank you for your time 之类的。如果你还打算申这个项目，请务必回复；如果不打算了，那不回也无所谓吧。但如果对方真的给你很诚恳的一封拒信，那也请诚恳的感谢人家的时间。
3.再看。一般是老师还没开始审材料，打算搁到一起来看
Thank you, I received your application and will get back to you in a few weeks.
I will be in touch in the next week or two, once I have had time to look over your materials and everyone else’s.
I will be reviewing applications until Nov. 1st and will get back to you soon after.
应对：大致到对方所说时间+1周后，还没收到回复，发一封礼貌的reminder。发“再看”信的教授还是比较愿意回邮件的，所以你发完reminder后即便对方不感兴趣也一般会给你回复的。
4.中性（模板）。
I am not actively recruiting students for Fall 2020 but I have not ruled out taking new students either....Regardless, I would encourage you to apply if you are interested in the mix of research going on in the department.
I plan to take 1 or 2 phd students(就回一句。。)

应对：说是中性，但我看几乎是拒信，很敷衍..不过也不像拒信那样没有机会，但一定是放在申请末端位置。回一封邮件说你之后打算申请的话再和他说。
5.积极。
Your training seems appropriate for the kind of research that I do.
good background/record, accomplished, productive,etc.
good fit/ interested in your skillset/ valuable skills, etc.
应对：可以考虑申请了。回一封邮件说你之后打算申请的话再和他说。但对方不安排面试就不要自己去问了。
