Shiqing Ma is an Assistant Professor at Rutgers University. His research interests lie in:

  • System security (e.g., provenance collection and analysis in kernel, containers, cloud)
  • Adversarial Machine Learnin (e.g., Trojan/Backdoor AI, adversarial examples, apply ML in security tasks)
  • Software security (e.g., fuzzing)
  • Software engineering (e.g., program analysis, AI engineering including DNN testing and debugging)
  • And many other related topics (e.g., programming languages, verification, data management etc.)


He has done a lot of work in these fields and was awarded the Distinguished Paper Awards from ISOC NDSS 2016 and USENIX Security 2017. Details about his research interests and publication can be found in his homepage

Rutgers CS focuses on three research areas: system (including security), theory and machine learning. Security is one of the future directions that the University will heavily investigate on.
