暑假被教授安排在校外的lab是好事吗？

LZ最近接到了一个教授的口头offer，其中他在邮件里有这么一段话，大意是想安排我在第一个暑假参加实习之类的机会，有朋友们了解这是什么操作吗？我是否应该接受这个机会，还是选择留在学校呢？

For the first summer I wanted to help you get a position at a research lab I work with in the US. This will give you a more practical/industry driven view to augment your academic work. I am hoping you will like this and this will be something you value, but if you do not then I can support you to stay at university that summer.
