Two PhD and multiple internship openings (for undergraduate, MS, and current PhD) in Dr. Ruoxi Jia’s research group at Virginia Tech! (Homepage ruoxijia.github.io)

Dr. Ruoxi Jia is an assistant professor in the Bradley Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Virginia Tech starting from Fall 2020. She was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) Department at UC Berkeley from 2018 to 2020. She earned her PhD in the EECS Department from UC Berkeley in 2018 and a B.S. from Peking University in 2013. Dr. Jia’s research interest lies broadly in the span of machine learning, security, privacy, and cyber-physical systems. Dr. Jia is the recipient of several fellowships, including the Chiang Fellowship for Graduate Scholars in Manufacturing and Engineering, the 8108 Alumni Fellowship, and the Okamatsu Fellowship. She was selected for the Rising Stars in EECS in 2017. Ruoxi’s work has been featured in multiple media outlets, including MIT Technology Review, IEEE Spectrum, and Synced.

The undergraduate and MS students Dr. Jia has mentored during her PhD and postdoc are accepted by prestigious PhD programs, such as UIUC, USC, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Maryland, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Toronto, or big tech companies, such as Apple and Facebook.

Dr. Ming Jin is an Assistant Professor in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. He received the B.Eng. degree with honor in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2012, the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at University of California, Berkeley in 2017, and was a postdoctoral scholar at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at University of California, Berkeley from 2018 to 2020 before joining Virginia Tech.

Dr. Jin has mentored more than 20 undergraduate or Masters students. Many of them have got offers from prestigious schools such as MIT and UC Berkeley or big tech companies such as Facebook.
