H1B approved后，学校让撤销opt extension申请

H1B 选择cos approved了，然后怕10月1号被裁和应对川普可能各种各样的ban，前段时间申请了opt extension，昨天有事找了一下学校的oie，顺便提了一下自己的h1b已经approved了，学校说我应该撤销stem申请，撤销之后再申请一份cap-gap I20。但我看地里面有一些人两个都申请还都批准了，请问我必须要撤销吗，如果不撤销的话会有什么严重后果吗？

和学校沟通了一会说出自己的担忧后，这样回复我：
At this moment, whether you withdraw it or not withdraw it you have work authorization until September 31 of 2020. No new I-20 is needed. It would only be needed if you decided to cancel your stem OP
