Ph.D. Research Assistantship is available at Professor Xingyong Song's research group at Texas A&M University, College Station. Preferred candidates may have the background and interests in optimal control theory, real-time optimization, nonlinear control, and machine learnings such as reinforcement learning. The selected the student will need to apply to the Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. program for Spring 2021 intake.

The project is funded by the Department of Energy and will be in collaboration with engineers from industrial partners. The project is about application of optimal control, real-time optimization and machine learning to autonomous and connected vehicles, in particular for autonomous construction vehicles, robots and machineries. Placements: Two research associates who did prior work for this project has recently graduated. One of them got multiple interviews from high-tech companies such Google and Amazon, and finally chose to become a tenure-track assistant Professor at University of Texas, Rio. The other student is currently doing an intern-ship in Tesla.
