阅读总有些不能理解的答案

有些阅读就是读不通。比如TPO11的阅读3，讲begging by nestlings的。第一句话就有考题：Many signals that animals make seem to impose on the signalers costs that are overly damaging.中的impose on被替换成了place on，而我替换成了distribute to.有那位大神能告诉这句话到底怎么翻译呢？
