We are excited to announce a Postdoctoral Scholar position in advanced, applied optical microscopy in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. Details on this position are below and accessible at: opportunities.ucsf.edu

Brief Description:
The Kim Lab at UC San Francisco is seeking a motivated scholar to conduct research enabling new optical approaches for studying development and vascular diseases of the visual system. The scholar will help optimize new intravital imaging and analytical methods, and use these to study cellular dynamics and function within genetic models of disease. The scholar will also have the opportunity to engage in collaborative projects with clinical colleagues developing new optical methods for diagnosing ophthalmic diseases. Some of the techniques employed by these projects include two-photon excited fluorescence microscopy, three-photon excited fluorescence microscopy, second-harmonic generation microscopy, and third-harmonic generation microscopy. The scholar will be co-mentored by Professor Douglas Gould, Vice Chair of Research within the UCSF Department of Ophthalmology, and will participate in a robust training program preparing him/her to become an independent investigator.

Requirements:
Candidates should have a PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent degree. A strong interest and working knowledge in optics and microscopies is required. Experience with medicine, ophthalmology, vascular biology, mouse research, and/or microsurgery is helpful but not required.

How to Apply:
Interested candidates should send their curriculum vitae, a letter of interest (LOI), and contact information for two references to Dr. Kim, 1point3acres.com. The LOI should state why the applicant is interested in this postdoctoral position and how this fits the applicant’s career trajectory.
