Thank you for writing. I am glad to learn of your interest and that you are applying to our graduate program so that our Graduate Admissions Committee can evaluate your credentials. If that results in an offer to join us, we will have the chance to talk in greater detail about your interests and goals.
FYI, faculty here do not make specific arrangements with students to come to our individual research group prior to their arrival on campus each fall. That said, faculty, myself included, are always eager to talk with talented and motivated students whose interests align with ours. I intend to add new students to my team next fall.
