Dr. Zhang in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University is looking for multiple Ph.D. students. The expected start date is Fall 2022. Selected candidates will work on the societal aspects of machine learning and artificial intelligence, including data privacy, security, algorithmic fairness.

Bio: Xueru Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University (OSU). Before joining OSU, she received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan and B.S. degree in Electronic and Information Engineering from Beihang University (BUAA), Beijing, China. Her research lies at the intersection of machine learning, optimization, and economics, including topics such as data privacy, algorithmic fairness, and security economics. Her work has been published at top CS conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, ICDM, etc. She was a recipient of Predoctoral Fellowship at the University of Michigan in 2020, a Rising Stars in EECS in 2020, and a Caltech’s Young Investigators lecturer in 2021.
