Dr. Ziang Zhang’s lab is looking for a student with a background in Control Systems or Power Systems or Power Electronics to join his team.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration on control systems or power systems or power electronics
- Previous publication records on IEEE conferences in English
- Good communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Research experiences in control systems, power systems, or reinforcement learning
- Hands-on experiences in hardware-in-the-loop projects. For example, OPAL-RT systems
- Hands-on experiences in the development of reinforcement learning algorithms in Python

About Ziang Zhang:

Dr. Zhang joined Binghamton University in 2014, and he is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. From 2013 to 2014, Dr. Zhang worked at ABB US Corporate Research Center as a Postdoc in Raleigh, NC, USA. He is a task force member on the Decision Support Tools for Energy Storage Investment and Operations of the IEEE Power and Energy Society and an associate editor of IEEE Access. His research interests include renewable energy integration, battery systems operation, transient stability analysis, and distributed control algorithms.

Dr. Zhang is currently leading three multi-organization research projects. The collaborators include industry partners, utility companies, startups, and national laboratories. Dr. Zhang's current projects have a total of $4M budget from the Department of Energy and New York State.
