There is currently an opening for one PhD student in Computer Engineering at Villanova University under the advisement of Dr. Kyle Juretus. Dr. Juretus is an Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering at Villanova University. He was an NDSEG national fellow during his PhD studies at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His work on securing integrated circuits received the best thesis nomination from the Drexel electrical and computer engineering department. He also worked at Synopsys, an electronic design automation (EDA) company, where he worked EDA algorithms to enable accelerated design space exploration.
The areas of research you will be working on include the following:
1.) Secure Integrated Circuit Design – Development of EDA tools for secure circuit design, novel IP obfuscation methodologies, and machine-learning and SAT based attack methodologies.
2.) Secure CPU Architecture – Integration of security primitives and novel security methodologies into CPU architectures to prevent classes of software vulnerabilities at the hardware level.
3.) Machine learning for EDA – Utilize machine learning to enhance the quality of results (QoR) returned by current synthesis and physical design algorithms.
A full tuition waiver and a competitive monthly stiped is available for the position. More details regarding the qualifications and benefits are provided below.

Qualifications:
; A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited or equivalent institution in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science
; Knowledge of VLSI and CMOS design
