Dr. Fan Yao’s research group at University of Central Floria is looking for highly-motivated, hard-working and talented students to join the lab 2022 Fall. If you are interested in designing secure and efficient computing systems and feeling excited about solving cutting-edge research problems, consider joining our group!

Dr. Fan Yao is the assistant professor in the department of ECE at University of Central Florida where he is leading the Computer Architecture and Systems Research (CASR) lab. Dr. Yao’s research interests lie broadly in the areas of computer architecture, systems and security with recent focuses on processor/architecture security, AI/ML security, advanced and secure emerging memory systems, system security and high-performance computing. His works are frequently published in many top-tier conferences and journals spanning systems, computer architecture and hardware. His research is well supported by external funding agencies such as US National Science Foundation.

Prospective Students. Research areas include but are not limited to: Computer Architecture and Security, ML/AI Security, Secure and High-performance systems. All positions will be fully funded with a salary that covers living expenses, together with health insurance and tuition waivers.   • Strong motivation in working on cutting-edge research problems.
  • Good understanding or prior research experience in one or multiple of the following fields: computer architecture, operating systems and software, machine learning (e.g., deep learning), FPGA programming, program analysis (e.g., symbolic execution) and mathematical modeling.
  • Proficient programming skills (e.g., C/C++, Python, Verilog and Script languages).
  • Hold (or will soon complete) a Bachelor or M.S. degree in (or equivalent to) Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or related areas with an overall GPA higher than 3.5.
