# Ph.D. student positions available, at the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia
Ph.D. student positions (stipend AU$ 40K per year, tax free) are available starting Semester 2 2022 to work on emerging topics in cybersecurity and AI/ML.
Monash is one of the prestigious “Group of Eight” universities in Australia, and is ranked 40th in the world according to the 2022 US News university rankings. The Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University hosts a large cybersecurity research group of over 10 academics. We publish regularly in top cybersecurity and cryptography venues. We are looking for motivated, talented, and hardworking applicants who have the background and are interested in working on the following areas:
- RT1: Security and privacy of Graph Neural Network
- RT2: Security and privacy of on-device machine learning
- RT3: Privacy-preserving machine learning
The required expertise includes:
- Masters (or Bachelors) in Computer Science/Engineering, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- English Skills to be eligible for Monash Admission, e.g., IELTS 6.5 overall (no band less than 6.0), TOEFL IBT 79 + (Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18 & Writing 21)
- GPA: High Distinction (HD) or HD equivalent
- Motivation to work beyond the expectations from an average Ph.D. student and publish in top tier venues
- RT1: Knowledgeable in GNN, deep learning, familiar with PyTorch etc.
- RT2: Knowledgeable in ML/AI, embedded devices/android apps
- RT3: Knowledgeable in deep learning, secure computation/differential privacy/trusted execution
