We are interested in bringing together specialized knowledge from various scientific and engineering disciplines and applying them to solve real-life issues. We are currently looking for eager students and volunteer trainees to assist in the development of microchip technologies for identifying target biomolecules/viruses/cells in clinical biological samples. The successful candidates will be intimately involved in every stage of the biosensing device development, including the design, prototyping, optimization and validation of the device.
Candidates should have:
- Strong passion towards translational medicine type of work
- Experience working in a laboratory setting
- Self-motivation with a strong drive to succeed and a strong desire to learn
- Strong desire to work in highly interdisciplinary projects that require working with team members with broad experience/background in virology, mechanical/electrical engineering, and computer programing.
The ideal candidates will have:
- Background in biology and wet bench work
- Background in device design and development
- Background in point of care diagnostics
- Background in machine learning technologies
- Electronic circuit design and fabrication experience.

We welcome students who are available for at least 8-month work terms and/or are willing to return for subsequent work terms.
