Dr. Lei Cao is an Assistant Professor at the CS department of University of Arizona, which is a top-50 CS program according to US News. His research is at the intersection of Data Systems and Machine Learning, focused on making machine learning scalable/usable and using machine learning to solve data problems. The current projects include using NLP to solve data problems, data cleaning in machine learning, anomaly detection systems, cloud Databases, and data privacy. Dr. Lei Cao has published more than 30 papers at the top data mangement and data mining conferences including SIGMOD, VLDB, KDD, and ICDE. Dr. Lei Cao also holds a research affilination at MIT CSAIL, collaborating with Prof. Sam Madden, Prof. Mike Stonebraker, and Dr. Mike Cafarella. Students have the opportunties to get letters from them and officially visit MIT CSAIL. Dr. Lei Cao is actively collaborating with industrial research including Google, Meta, Micorosoft Research, and IBM research. Students have abundant opportunities for summer internship. Students with database or NLP background have higher priority. All students admitted to the PhD program will get fully funded for 4 years. Located at Tucson, University of Arizona is a public Ivy League university and a member of Association of American Universities, the only selected university in Arizona.
