Ph.D. Positions in Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA)
Two fully-funded Ph.D. positions for Fall 2023 at the intersection of network science, operations research, and intelligent infrastructure/transportation systems are available in the Department of Civil Engineering at UTA. Applicants with a great passion for research and a background in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or any other closely related area are preferred. Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, R, Julia, and Java, is strongly desired. Prior research experience in transportation network modeling, machine learning, and/or optimization and control is a huge plus.
Successful candidates may have an opportunity to obtain an interdisciplinary Ph.D. between Computer Science or Industrial Engineering and Civil Engineering. About the Principal Investigator
Dr. Jinzhu Yu is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at UTA. He obtained his Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies in Systems Engineering at Vanderbilt University. Before joining UTA, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Computer Science and Network Science and Technology Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
