About the Opportunities: The Advanced Manufacturing Research Group led by Dr. Yizhou Jiang in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) invites applications for multiple fully supported Ph.D. student positions starting in Fall 2023. Our current interdisciplinary research projects focus on next-generation additive manufacturing processes, functional material developments, and computational methodologies for intelligent manufacturing with an emphasis on aerospace applications. Self-motivated applicants with a background in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related field are highly encouraged to apply.

About the PI: Dr. Yizhou Jiang holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (2020) and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering (2016) from the University of Illinois Chicago. Before joining ERAU, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Center for Advanced Manufacturing at the University of Southern California (2021-2022). His research interests are innovative additive manufacturing processes of functional material for applications including aerospace structures, energy harvest, robotics, bio-inspired designs, etc. Dr. Jiang is the recipient of the 2021 ASME MSEC Best Doctoral Symposium Award.
About the Department: The Aerospace Engineering Department, the largest in the nation with an enrollment of over 2,000 full-time students, offers Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. degrees, including 60 students in the Ph.D. program. The undergraduate program is currently ranked #8, and the graduate program is ranked #32 (tied) by the U.S. News and World Report.
